Help - Question on Cymbalta

Hello everyone.  I have a question regarding Cymbalta.  As many of you know I was in a motorcycle accident in October 2008.  I have struggled with depression / saddness since the accident.  About a little over a month ago my doc along with my therapist put me on Cymbalta 30mg and when I went to my doc appt just recently she put my dosage up to 60mg instead of 30mg.  I waited until last night to up the dose so, I took 1 of the 60mg Cymbalta and sat down to watch t.v.  This was about 7pm last night which, is right around the time I usually take it.  I did take it on a partially empty stomach (had snacks about 5pm).  I usully take it on an empty stomach and have never had any prob's with it.

So, about an hour later I stated to feel sick to my stomach and holy crud did I get sick.  I was throwing up, don't think I threw up the pill. felt just awful with the chills and that major yuckies lasted until about midnight.  After I had drank 2 Aklaseltzer's I finally was able to swallow with out throwing up.  So we went to bed about 1:00am this morning and I had to get up about 6:00am to use the bathroom and I just stayed up cause I was still feeling pretty sick to my stomach.  It is now about 6:45am and the yuckies are coming back on.  I didn't each or drink anything in excess or of the junk variety and everything is the same as evenings before just except for the pill.

I obviously will call my doc's office at 8:00am but I am just wondering if anyone else out there in Med Help Land has experienced the same syimptoms after an increase in Cymbalta or, if anyone knows if it actually is the Cymbalta or maybe just a stomach bug.

Thanks for any replies - that would be great.

Hey Sweetie, I'm so so sorry to hear about your horrible night! I take Cymbalta, 60 mg in the am and 30mg in the Pm, I have never had a problem that I thought was caused by the Cymbalta but now I'm questioning that. I have had bouts of illness like you describe but I always assumed it was something else. I have absolutely no advice for you except to see your doctor and hang in there. You are in my heart!! What igarfy said scares me, I'm going to have to do some research myself. and if anyone can elaborate It would be great. Feel better Montana!

I would seriously look at all the info about cymbalta online. I myself took it 60mg for 2 years. I nearly killed me and weaning off is worse than herion ( although I have never taken herion, I just use that annology. One of the really bad side effects are call brain zaps and once they start it's real hard to get over them, Some friends and I are working real hard to get this taken off the market.

Sorry I missed your post earlier. I don't know how I do that but it happens every now and again.

I took Cymbalta for a short time at a lesser dose. I did not have any nausea with it. How are you feeling now? What did your PCP have to say about it?

Could it have just been a bug or did he think it was from the medications? Please let us know how you are doing.

Take Care, Tuck
