Patients with GERD do not normally vomit. What they do experience is called Regurgitation. Regurgitation is the feeling of acid backing up in the throat. Sometimes acid regurgitates as far as the mouth and be experienced as a "wet burp." Are you referring to this as vomit? As a general rule that "burp" burns as it contains stomach acid. Those are typical symptoms of GERD.  But uncommonly and in rare cases, it may occasionally come out on forcefully as vomit.

Again I hope you will keep us posted. Tuck

Hello Palmer and welcome to the Pain Forum.

Both Nick and Tuck are correct. It may definitly be a sign of GERD and this is why. The esophagus is the tube that connects the mouth to the stomach. There is a muscle that normally opens to let food into the stomach and closes to keep food and stomach acid in. With GERD, this muscle does not work properly, and causes food and stomach acid to leak back up the esophagus. It could also be Gastroenteritis as Tuck has suggested.

There are also about 2000 other reasons why you are vomiting stomach acid. Please have it checked out. Make that appt. with your Doctor. Better safe than sorry. Please take care and good luck.

Hello Palmer,

Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. You are much to young to be having these kinds of symptoms, discomfort and distress in your life. Have you spoke to your parents about this problem and if so what are they telling you? Have you been to your family doctor? These should be your first steps.

In my opinion it is doubtful that you are "throwing up your stomach lining."  It's more probable that it is stomach acids and mucus. They little information you have given does not fit the classic symptoms of GERD.

You may have gastroenteritis.  However there are many things to consider and it may not be that at all. Please approach your parents for an appointment with your physician. He/she can begin the diagnostic procedure. You may be referred to a pediatric gastroenterologist.

Feel free to let us know how you are doing. And please don't let these symptoms go undiagnosised or untreated. It is important, especially at your age that all your nutritional needs are met. If you are vomiting your nutritional status may become compromised.

Good luck to you and please see your family doctor. Take Care, Tuck

it's not acid reflux is it? try googling it, see if the symptoms you're having match.
can i ask if you normally eat well? perhaps a change in your eating habits may help.
have you seen your dr yet? if it's been going on 3 months or so I really think you should be taking it seriously.
I'm sorry I can't tell you anything more than that. good luck

Nick
