Hello Linda,
Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. I am glad that you found us at MedHelp and took the time to post. I am sorry to hear about your new discomfort.
Your umbilical hernia repair was completed five years ago if I understand you correctly. Adhesions or scar tissue typically begin to form within the first few days after surgery, but they may not produce symptoms for months or even years. If these "bumps" are new they may not be related to adhesions.
It is not unheard that you may require more repair. As you know the hernia was a tear or separation of your muscles. There are many possibilities and I cannot tell you with any certainty what may be going on.
It is important that you have a good clinical examination. Please see your PCP. As Mollyrae said abdominal pain should never be ignored.
We wish you the best of luck. Please let us know how you are doing.
Take Care,
Tuck
Hello Lindag and welcome to the Pain Forum.
From what I have gathered over the years, this could be an inflamed appendix, ulcers or hernia from excessive workouts.
My advise to you would be to see a Physician soon. They will most likely want to take some x-rays. Don't let it go. Pain in or near the belly button can be serious.
Good luck with it.
Mollyrae
