In PM and had a hospitalization!

I have been with the same PM Dr's for almost 2 years now with never a problem. I unfortunately had a bad accident recently and was hospitalized. I did all the right things and called and told the PM docs what was going on and what the hospital wanted to release me with, as far as pain medications. They told me to stop one of my pain meds of the two they give me while taking hospital MEDS, then start back on their medicine when done with hospital discharge one.  My question is...since they count my pills each 3 months, will I have to account at next appt for ones that I "should have" extra for when I was on hospital meds. Will they even ask? Pretty concerned over this because they've been my only PM Dr's I've ever gone to, and I don't want to lose them as docs.( I have of course ones I should normally have for them as always, but don't have extras I should have from being on hospital ones)
Thank you so much in advance for your time.

Oh....you too!  I hope you feel better. I can't imagine the pain.  I'm sure your doctor will be able to, take care of yourself :)

Hi, well that should help quite a bit. You can explain that to the doctor and if you wanted to you could even take the pills the hospital gave you to show them what you did.
I don't think it would be a problem.  The doctor told you to finish up what the hospital gave you.  That could have been a couple days worth
Good luck!

Hi, every PM is different. My husband was hospitalized for 3 or 4 days. I called PM never got through, left messages. When hubby went back to PM doctor said he should have extras. He didn't because hospital didn't have his medication so he took his from home. Does your doctor always count them? In my opinion the accident is out of the ordinary but if your doc told you how to take, and you took more, I think they would expect another call from you. Sorry I'm not helping. Good luck!

Thank you Dee for answering back. Just realized in my 2nd post, that I forgot to add one important sentence...it is not that I took more than I should at all, it was just the medicine the hospital discharged me with that the PM knew I was going to take was so very strong, so after a few days on it, I tried one day to just take my normal PM medicine to see if it worked for this kind of injury, and it was manageable for most times. I just wanted to get back to my normal meds and my normal routine as soon as possible, for the main fact that I love the pm Dr's I'm going to, and I didnt want any confusion or problem at all with them, as when things are changed up, that can happen. I have been by the book with every detail with them, so wish I never had this terrible accident. Thank you again Dee for responding to me though, sorry I forgot to put in that part.

--Just wanted to add that I suffered from the accident 3 fractures of my hip and 5 broken ribs, hence why I don't have those extra pills while I was on hospital medicines. Very very painful and very long recovery
