Out of my meds!

Off the morphine!!! I did it! I was taking Norco 10.325 plus morphine extended release 30mg (4 a day) for my chronic back pain. 15 yes suffering, have metal rods & 2 titanium discs. New Dr gave me wrong dosage & less qty. So, I'm out of meds. One left, with 5 days for next refill. Can I take ibuprofen 500 with Norco? is there anything else I can try while waiting to get my refills? I started with a new Dr and not only did he give me the wrong dosage (7.325 Instead of 10.325) he also gave me 90 instead of 120 per mo.)...I went to him telling him I WANTED TO GET OFF the extended morphine since I had a lot of problems not to mention withdrawal symptoms,.(due to being out of town when my father was very critical in the hospital) He applaud me for wanting to get off but in the interim (somehow) didn't write the prescription correctly.I left, again, out of town & with the rush didn't notice the bottle. I was just so glad , someone, commended me and didn't treat me like an addict. Which is what happened at E.R in my father's town, when I went to get help. getting of the subject. ..sorry!  Just trying to explain what I've been thru. Anyway,  I'm out of meds since the Dr gave me less and wrong qty. Dr not in today and nurse won't be in til afternoon. I hope they don't give me any grief and recognize my very very strong effort in weaning myself off the morphine in a month.

Hopefully you can get in touch with your Dr tomorrow. He should have no problem calling in a small scrip until it's time to get you other one filled. When ever you see  a new Dr it's best to go over your scripts right there in the office just in case there's a mistake. I hope you get everything figured out tomorrow. Good for you for getting off the morphine. From what I know about this med it can be very hard to quit. I don't think any of us likes having to take meds in the first place, we just do not want to be in unbearable pain.

He/she also may have given you the lesser quantity to start weaning you off because you said you wanted to, so that might also be the reason for less meds. Good luck to you either way.

Usually if you want to take over the counter meds, it's okay to ask your doctor or pharmicist (who *knows* all the other prescriptions you are taking) for advice on what kinds of 'extras' you can take. Most of us (on this forum) are not doctors and don't know all the meds you are taking, so it probably wouldn't be right to tell you what's okay and what's not.

But, my goodness, I do feel your pain. You are calmer than I would be -- I would be on the phone saying, "Please call the doctor at home and have him call me...nowwwww."

Just my two cents.

Also, this might not make you happy.... but the fact that you stuck with the 7.5mg without complaining MAY cause someone to say, "Well, you seemed to do okay on the 7.5's, otherwise you would have called us sooner." (We, here, know your reason, but unless you explain as clearly as you did here, they may not. Just be prepared for that :-)
