Kicked out of pain clinic

I had to go to the hospital and they gave me some vicodian. Also my back was giving me more trouble and had to take extra. This did not happen all at once. So they kicked me out. I have sever back pain. Had decompression surgery 2005 but all the pain has come back. I also have heart failure and the pain puts a lot of stress on my heart. When my back hurts it radiates into my chest. I have type 2 diabetes. And have silent M.I.'s.. But there is the chance I will feel the next heart M.I.. So I don't know just when it will happen. When aim on my pain meds. I feel more compatible. So can I go to another pain clinic. I live in NH unfortunately. I am from MA came up here for the feds in 1978. I worked for the Navy ship yards for many years and that id where i injured my back 25 years ago. My back is worse than ever. My xrays and cat scans and mr'is prove it.HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Hi Grampyhiltz,

Thank you for giving us more info. So much depends on what happened.  We all know how difficult it is when we are having more pain and we can't control it.

What Sara said is excellent advice and exactly what I would tell  you. I might add one thing and that is I would contact my Cardiologist immediately and let him know what happened and see if you couldn't get his help as I imagine that he is NOT going to want you to be in pain like you are because it is so stressful on your heart!! I know that mine was very happy when I found Pain Management (I have two stents).

When you get into another program and I'm thinking that you can IF you are persistent, you WILL HAVE TO TOE THE LINE!!! If anything should happen again chances are that you wouldn't be given another chance. Your file would be RED FLAGGED and it would be EXTREMELY difficult. Please take this the wrong way, I'm just concerned about you and all of your other health problems and I know how important it is for you to get this help!!

It's best if you could go in and talk to your Dr.s, PCP and Cardiologist, in person. That usually works the best. Let us know how you are doing!! Please keep us updated. There will probably be other people to give you more suggestions also. Take care of yourself as you don't need any other complications to arise.....Sherry (a Grandmother)

Hi Grampy:  Do you have a primary care doctor that you trust?  If you do, here's what I'd do.  Go see the him and tell him the whole story and omit nothing.  Ask him to refer you to another Pain Control Doctor.

Also, I would write a letter to your former pain clinic.  I would explain why I did what I did.  Tell them that what you know what you did was wrong but you didn't at the time.   Explain that next time, you'd definitely contact them first if you feel extra pain control is in order.  I'd thank them for their help in the past.  Request that the letter be placed in your file.

If you do get into another pain management program, you may have to have a urinalysis drug test and may be called in for pill counts.  It just depends on the doctor.  You will have to follow their instructions to the letter or risk being kicked out again.

This is just my opinion.  I'm sure someone will come on later who could give you better suggestions.  Do check back.

Good luck and do check back later.

Sara
