Knee Pain after Arthoscopy

I had arthroscopic surgery on my right kneein June of 2014 for arthritic problems.  I have had bad pain ever since.  Since the surgery I have had cortisone shots that have not worked and physical therapy that provided no relief.  I went to get a second opinion and that doctor pretty much blew me off.  I have a diagnosis of fibromyalgia so I know I don't necessarily process pain the way normal folks do.  I fell two weeks ago, landed on the right knee, and have suffered ever since.  The knee, while not swollen, is difficult for me to bend and is very stiff at times.  I do walk with a limp and have problems getting up from a seated position.  I have been on every NSAID and COX-2 drug.  I am currently taking Tramadol.  Any ideas what I might have wrong?  Keep in mind, I had bad pain before the fall.  Thanks for reading.

Well that is good news, so I think it more productive that we both move on from the "Case of the Misanthropic Surgeon."

Best wishes.

It was the second doctor who told me not to seek any help for orthopadic docs.  He was a very prominent orthopaedic surgeon in St. Louis, but a rude, condescending man.  He is no longer significant to my story since I got my MRI results back and there is obviously many things wrong with me knee.  I am making an appt. with my original surgeon on Monday since he has always believed I had pain, he just moved a little too slow for me.

I'm a little confused because this doctor told you to stop going to orthopedic surgeons.

Did the second orthopedic surgeon tell you not to get second opinions?

Or did he just tell you that he -- and no one else -- knew what was right for you?

I have also had three bad falls since my surgery in June of 14.  The last was January 3, 2015.

The second doctor was an orthopaedic surgeon.

. I had an MRI and the knee is a mess.  Moderaate OA with areas of severe degenerative chondrosis near patella.  2.  Comples tear of the medial meniscus anterior horn.  Sublexed anteriorly and medially.  3.  Degenerative singal of the lateral meniscus posterior root w/o definite tear.  4.  Moderate joint effusion and large popliteal cyst with leaking.

I kept telling everyone it hurt.  I have to make an appt. on Monday with the first orthopaedic surgeon.

What was the second doctor's specialty?

He said he did not agree with my surgeon that I would eventually need knee replacement and that I should stop going to orthopaedic surgeons.  I only went to him for a second opinion. He was very condescending.  My primary doc said he was wrong and just saw the fibromyalgia diagnosis.  I had an MRI yesterday and I'm waiting for the results.  I do know I have a patella tracking problem and a huge Baker's cyst.

The key, here, is going and finding a doctor (the right kind of doctor... for example, a rheumatologist) to give you a diagnosis.

You said, "I went to get a second opinion and that doctor pretty much blew me off." Would you please elaborate: why did they blow you off, and what did they say?
