Oh my! I never saw this response. Daughter got surgery on one hand. They confirmed severe carpal tunnel. It was Fioricet. After speaking with her about my concern, she did not take any more hydros, and discontinued the fioricet because she said she was walking around work high. She truly has been my only child who never experimented with drugs, which made it all the more scary. I guess they will do surgery on her other hand, soon. She had no adverse affects from surgery. No pain anymore. :)
yes i doctor i once worked with did with great results
Hello Lou,
Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Forum. I understand your concern for your daughter. If you have done any reading you know that Fioricet contains a combination of acetaminophen, butalbital, and caffeine. Acetaminophen is a pain reliever and fever reducer.
Butalbital is in a group of drugs called barbiturates. It relaxes muscle contractions usually involved in a tension headache.
Why this physician has decided to prescribe this drug for your daughter CT is beyond me. Are you sure this is the correct name of the med that was ordered? Have you seen the bottle? Another thought is that your daughter may not be sharing all the facts with you. I cannot guess.
Unfortunately there may be more going on that you are aware of and with HIPPA you are not privy to her medical records or any communication with her physician.
I was told that CT will not produce swelling. I saw two surgeons when I was DX with the condition. An x-ray was done as they were sure I had arthritis....it was negative. I do not arthritis. The swelling all but disappeared after surgery but they still deny that it was caused by the CT. Just thought I would share that with you.
I would encourage your daughter to see a surgeon and determine if she indeed has CT. There are better solutions for it then Fioricet. I know how our grown children can worry us and my heart goes out to you. My grandmother use to say, "When they are little they step on your toes. When they are big they step on your hearts." I didn't truly understand what she was saying until my children were adults!
Best of luck to you and your daughter and please keep in touch. I'll look forward to hearing from you again.
Take Care,
~Tuck
