Hi,
Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. You do not say how long this area has been tender. If it's just been a few days you could have slept in an uncomfortable position or injured the area and not realized it at the time. I would guess it is a rib.
GERD does not normally cause a tender spot in the area you describe. When I think of a "spot" I think of a nickel sized area. If this is a large area or the tenderness does not subside or becomes worse I would certainly check with your PCP.
I'm sorry I cannot be more helpful. Please let us know how you are doing. I will look forward to your updates.
Good luck and take care,
Tuck
it has been goin on for a bout a year
That's a long time to have a tender spot that is not diagnosed. Have you discussed this with your physician?
I do have similar areas in my legs that have been evaluated and are related to a chronic pain condition. They are harmless but can hurt like heck.
Have you had a CT or anything similar?
I have had a gallbladder ultrasound done but they said it was fine, but it hasnt gotten anyworse it just is aggrevating and sometimes it feels like sharp stabby pains but that only last a sec.
I can only tell you what I would do. I would return to my PCP and tell her/him how aggravating this is for you and how painful it becomes. Request additional testing. If your PCP is not willing to do that than it may be time to find one that will.
It may be a muscle that keeps spasming but what ever it is you deserve an explanation. Be assertive and don't be patted on the head and dismissed. Ultrsounds don't reveal everything. You may need a CT or other testing.
I have an appt oct 28 with my personal doctor and he will do what he can to help me figure it out. Do you think it is something serious?
I am not a physician and would not be comfortable "guessing. October seems like a long time to wait. If you speak to your PCP's nurse she may be able to get you in sooner.
