I have never heard of what you have and it really worries me that your doctor isn't finding relief for you. Dear, if someone here can't help you then find another doctor and don't stop until you find one that really listens to you and gets to the bottom of your pain and helps you. In the meantime use the internet to do research to find out all you can about your pain, You can find tons of stuff and different sites that are there waiting to help. Be armed and ready when you see your next doctor with information so you know exactly what he is talking about so you know if hs is getting to the root of your problem. He should be able to prescribe or do something to ease your pain. No one should have to live like that. Don't give up girl, keep looking! Please keep us posted. I for one, want to know that you have found help.
has you're doctor not tried 'other' anticonvulsants?
My mother had trigeminal neuralgia and I agree the pain is excruciating, she had 2 surgeries that only helped temporarily...she was tried on 3 different anticonvulsants before dilantin the one that ended up working for her. but first of all you need to get a correct dx.
good luck
Hi Dee,
I am so very sorry that you are having such horrid uncontrolled pain. Very sorry. I am glad that you have found us and I encourage you to remain with us. We are very supportive and if that helps at all please lean on us.
If you are only on Lyrica and Amitriptyline that does not sound sufficient enough to control severe pain. You must be assertive and demand stronger medications. It may take some trial and error to find the right combination of medications that will help ease the pain. You may not be pain free but you something should take the edge off.
If your PCP is unwilling to prescribe for you than please make an appointment with a PMP. If you have attempted suicide four times they me reluctant to prescribe potent medications. However if you explain the reasons they should help you.
You deserve to get your some semblance of your life back. As I said you may not be pain free but it should be controlled. What if anything have you tried besides Lyrica and Amitriptyline?
Trigeminal Neuralgia is extremely painful. We have had other members with this condition but most of them have better pain control.
Again please stay with us. We are here to support you and offer information and suggestions. I'll wait for your reply and updates.
Take Care Dear Heart,
Tuck
