Pain Seven Weeks After Shoulder Surgery

I had arthroscopic cuff repair, acromioplasty, and open biceps tenodesis on my right shoulder seven weeks ago.  I still am experiencing quite a bit of pain - as high as a 3 or 4 out of ten at times.    Surgeon noted on report that quality of the procedure was excellent.  Is this pain after seven weeks unusual?

Thanks for the response - it is encouraging.  I was hoping to find that more time is needed for the healing to take place and the pain to subside and your experience indicates that.  You are probably right that the anchor is causing most of the pain.  Hopefully I will have a similar recovery and the pain will lessen substantially within the next 1-2 months.  I will follow up with the physical therapy.  Thanks again!

I had the same procedure done almost a year ago.  Over all things are great, occasionally I still have a bad day.  It was about 3 to 4 months before I could say the pain was really gone.  I think it was more the anchor of the Bicep than anything else, it was also very different pain than prior to surgery.  Make sure to do your shoulder rehab, it helps a lot.  Hope things get better for you.
