Passing blood

Hey,
For quite a while now I have noticed that after going to the toilet (back passage) there has been a small amount of blood on the tissue. From looking this up on the internet I presumed this was just due to a fissure, so I wasn't worried. Sometimes I can feel that there is a cut there anyway...if the skin is stretched for any reason.
This has persisted for the last year almost i'd say, and the last time there was quite a lot of blood, even some in the bowl.
Also, it is often quite sore to go to the toilet.
Could anyone please help? Might this be fissures or should I be more worried?
Thanks!

Thanks for the replies.
No, I'm not taking any sort of medicine whatsoever...and the consistency ranges, depending on what i have eaten i guess. But it seems to be when it is harder that there is blood. I'd say I have BM everyday or two.
Also, the blood is bright red.
Will book an appointment with the doctor today, stupid that I haven't already I know, just an embarressing trip I had been hoping to avoid, and there had never been much blood until that time a few days ago.

the color of the blood is important. Usually if a bright red color it indicates hemorrhoids or yes a fissure. a dark red can indicate something alot more serious. best to have a stool test done for occult blood...)

BTW, I'm no a doctor, and this is just from personal experience.

Answering this questions will help others to come along and better your question. Lots of folks in this forum with constant/regular bowel-movement issues, and they're all SUPER helpful.

I have a few questions for you...

Are you taking any medication, prescribed or otherwise (legal or illegal)?
What is the consistency of your BM (hard, soft, semi-soft, firm)?
How often to you have a BM?

I've had a small amount of blood in my anus before, after having a BM, but it was simply due to the fact that the **** I was trying to pass was HARD and big. If you're passing blood on a regular/semi-regular basis, you really need to see a physician or at least talk to one.
