Hi Grampy,

You should follow the instructions of our PMP. Take the long acting (LA) oxycodone  as prescribed the two times a day. If you notice you have pain that is not being managed by the Oxys then take the Percocets as he ordered.

You may be surprised how much the LA Oxycodones actually reduce your pain. At least that is what I am hoping for you.

Love you photo too. I assume that is you and your lovely bride? Great photo.

Hope you are doing better. You deserve to be comfortable.

My Best to You,
~Tuck

Follow your doctors instructions and keep in mind that the P's can have an adverse effect on your intestinal system. Good luck!

Give your body a chance to get used to the new medications...it may take a day or so for the oxycontin to really prove effective.  What dosage are the percocets you are prescribed? How many and what mg and how often?
I would also stress that you should take your meds as directed...if not, you may jeopardize the relationship you have with your doctor.  The doctor can refuse to continue to prescribe for you if you do not follow the directives.
Also, in addition to the medications, you should definitely try other pain management methods...even heating pads or ice, baths, isometrics (as directed by a doctor or PT), diet and exercise, getting enough sleep, massage therapy etc etc...Even a little effort towards one or more of those options can have a positive effect on how your pain is controlled:)
So...give the new prescriptions a chance, and then keep the lines of communication open with your doctor.  When I was taking oxycontin and percocet, I found the combination to be very effective, and actually took less percocet than I thought I'd need.  Oxycontin is a very good pain reliever for many people, and it is extended release, so it must build up in the system to be effective...and when it has, you should hopefully have some relief:)
I wish you the best! Let us know how it goes:)

Hi Grampy:  Love the picture.  You need to talk to your doctor about this.  If your pain isn't being properly alleviated, he needs to know.  For now, all I can advise is to use your meds as directed.
