Sprayshield and Pain Relief for Adhesions

Hiya,

i was just wondering if anyone had had the sprayshield for adhesions????? im havin it in about 6 wks but not sure what to expect. Ive already had 2 Laporoscopys to remove them but they keep growing back worse, and its all from having my appendix removed 6 years ago!!!!!!

Also at the mo i am taking  2 x50mg Tramadol twice a day as well as 500mg narproxen twice a day, but i think my bodys become used to it as its not really doing much for the pain. Im waiting for an appointment with the pain clinic but just wondering what other people have been taking????

Many Thanks

I will keep you posted on how it all goes. A little bit nervous and dubious, as nothing else has worked but fingers crossed this will.
The waiting list is about 6 weeks so just waiting for an appointment now.
Kind of excited as well tho, if ya get what i mean. Having spent 6 years in chronic pain, and i may finally have something to stop it.

Hello Princess,

I learn so much every day on this forum, thanks to ppl like you. SprayShield is a fairly new gel substance that is sprayed onto the wound surfaces after s surgical procedure in completed. It remains in place for some days after surgery. Adhesions are formed within 7 days of surgery. It is beleived that this new barrier system thus prevents formation of adhesions.

I do not have any personal experience with the SprayShiled. You may become our new resident "expert" on this product. I do have lots of first hand experience and knowledge about adhesions. I can attest that they indeed can cause pain!!

Adhesions are a controversial subject. It use to be beleived that they were incapable of producing pain. More research has revealed that the adhesion itself it not the culprit, it's what it does that causes pain and problems. Adhesions can binds two surfaces together that formerly were free to move and surfaces that should not be joined. That it what can trigger pain. Physicians, especially surgeons are finally recognizing this fact.

As I stated I do not have any first hand knowledge regarding SprayShield and I am excited to know how successful this product will be for your adhesions.

While Tramadol is a synthetic narcotic it is on the lower portion of the scale in potency. It would be wonderful if your next surgery using the SprayShield would reduce or eliminate your need for narcotic pain management.

Our members may have personal information on the SprayShield. It's early and it is Sunday...so responses may be a lit slower than during the week.

I wish you the very best. You must be so excited to finally have at least hope that your chronic pain will end.

Good Luck,
~Tuck
