Definitely call your doctor. Ideally you should have done it before the procedure. I had this happen a couple of months ago. My pain doctor said she'd leave it to the dentist as to what to prescribe. Turns out, with ibuprofen and ice, I didn't need it (though I was glad to have it just in case.)
That's why I asked about the contract....Even so...your Dr. still may be upset that you didn't let them know about getting opiates from another Dr...
Again...it's just about keeping everyone on the same page...If it's no big deal for you to take these....I don't know why you don't just call your PM to let them know....
Even without a contract you can be subject to random urine tests....and if you didn't tell your PM and other medicine showed up.,..that would not be good...
I'm not saying you are doing anything wrong....I'm just trying to help you not have Drs. thinking that you are....
So...a quick call to your Dr. will solve everything....
No I just see him every few weeks and haven't signed any contract. Reguardless that I haven't I'm NOT getting multiple scripts or trying to do anything sneaky. I take meds for chronic pain and with tolerance and long term use anyone knows that becomes your "normal baseline" so when something happens like an injury or dental work happens your still going to have and extra amount of pain , which I'm using for only the 4 day supply that it is to help my teeth/face pain. I don't doctor shop never have never will and I'm not breaking a contract because I haven't signed one, and I'm going to be honest. I just don't want to have any problems so I was posting for opinion if anyone understands where I'm coming from...

The key is that you didn't notify your PM....Even just calling them at the Dentist's office....right before the procedure and asking them what you should do...Then they have the choice to prescribe some opiates for you to take if needed....or give the ok for you to accept the prescription from the Dentist...
You say you understand about the contract....does this mean you signed one with your PM?
Right and I understand the contract, breakthrough, and all that inside out, but I have no breakthrough meds chronically prescibed anymore only low dose time release 2 times a day, which is Ms ER 15.. So that is my EVERYDAY normal baseline. So added that ruthless extraction I needed a few of them and am going to explain to the doctor what happened and he can easily look and see the inflamation. My point is I would suffer in agony if I didn't take the few I was given and that should be very obvious knowing the low dose time release don't "knock out" the pain and neither does these meds but better than nothing thanks for the advice . I see where your coming from
It's always best to contact the Dr. that is prescribing any pain medicine if you are going to the Dentist...
As well as write down all the medicine that you are taking when filling out information for the Dentist before a procedure..
Because I'm already on a decent amount of pain medicine....my PM just says to use my breakthrough medication as needed but what helps the most is an anti-inflammatory as most all dental procedures causes inflammation...
You should never accept/and or fill a prescription without checking with your Dr. first...Many people have contracts with their Dr. so doing this could cause them to be dismissed from the practice as well as have a permanent mark on your medical records for not following procedures..
Even when I had my wisdom teeth pulled...(all 4) before I started my journey with chronic pain....I only needed a few Vicodin prescribed by the Dentist for a few days...
There is going to be some residual pain when having a dental procedure....so we aren't expected to be pain free....
