Why do I feel withdrawals inbetween dosages?

I have gone cold turkey twice and weaned twice. But always go back on due to severe henriated disk pain and mouth pain. Ive been back on oxycodone now for a year after five months clean and am taking 3 tens a day, but the last three days, I feel withdrawals in between dosages. Its killing me. Why is this happeneing???

If your pain is truly severe enough for you to need the pain meds, my guess would be that at 30mg/day of oxycodone, you are being HORRIBLY undermedicated for the pain.  I would speak with the doctor about either increasing your dosage, putting you on something stronger and then using the oxycodone for breakthrough pain, or just weaning you off the pain meds altogether and dealing with the pain via other methods, since it's probably easier to use a non-narcotic method of pain management than it is to continually go through withdrawal.

Hi Sandy,

Your body (and mind) build a tolerance after a while and the medication no longer works at the doses you are taking. I suggest that you speak with your doctor and let him know what is going on.

I also suggest that you post a question in our Pain Management community.

Best of luck. If you decided you want to quit the pills, come on back. We would be happy to support you through the process.
