I too have pain in my rt arm but only at night and after my shoulder has been in the same position for awhile. Later it progresses to the point where pain is worse and it only takes laying my arm in any position for a couple minutes B/4 the pain starts. this happens no matter which side I am trying to sleep on.The shoulder seems fine during the day with only very minor pains when I get it in a certain position. My range of motion of the RT shoulder is about 95%
Hi Kap,
Welcome to the Pain Management Community.
The shoulder is a complex joint.....that can develop multiple problems. However most problems/pain occur with activity and not rest. You have asked a good question.
Garden-variety osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease) is a common issue of the shoulder that usually comes with age and wear and tear. Many ppl with arthritis claim the pain is worse when resting.
If there is pain when you rest upon the shoulder a bursitis maybe responsible. It's perplexing to me that it only hurts when you rest. However I am far from a shoulder expert.
It's been a month and I think that's enough time to allow this to resolve on it's own.... as many things can. I encourage you to consult your PCP.
I wish I had better suggestions for you. Maybe one of our members will have personal experience to add to this. I hope you will share with us what you discover. Good luck to you.
Peace,
~Tuck
