Hi sandee, thanks for your suggestion I will insist on a thorough examination when I see the doc next week, however if the pain goes worse I will go to A&E beforehand.

thanks again,
best wishes

Hi I urge you to have your Dr do test especially if he suspects it may be your kidneys. I would insist on it. I have had pains like you describe and though I have many medical problems the Dr never committed to the symptoms being in line with my current problems. I will tell you the pain in the buttocks eventually went away and I still am not sure what it was but it is very painful. As Mollyrae suggested ask the Dr for something stronger! I was taking pretty strong meds when I had these problems and it did not touch the pain.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi Mollyrae. Thanks for replying so prompt. Not had x-ray or scan at this moment in time as I only saw the doc this Wednesday, but the pain is severe so I might try contacting an osteopath if I have no joy with the medication he has prescribed.
As I said I have had the pain for about 6 weeks it began after a 1 day climbing expedition with my wife and 2 sons, I think I did to much all at once,I felt some pain on the decent then about a week later I thought I'd pulled a muscle in my back. Here I am six week on and still have the pain, doctor can't be sure what it is as yet he say's it may have some connection with my kidney.I see the doc again Wed 6 Aug.

Thanks for your interest, best wishes.Strider (Love the trailer)

Ok. I looked up Co-Dydramol and it is used for mild to moderate pain. It sounds like you definitly need something stronger. Like I said, Oxycodone is an excellent painkiller used alot in back pain. I would ask your Dr. for something stronger as it sound like you need it.

Hi Strider. Sorry for all the pain youv'e had. Tell me a few things. Has the Dr. done any x-rays, MRI, Scans ect...What is the diagnosis? It sounds like your sciatic (spelling) nreve is involved, possibly a herniated disk? In a case like that, plenty of rest and a good heating pad isn't a bad idea. I'm not sure what Co-Dydramol is but maybe you need a change in your pain meds like Oxycodone for example. Please give further info. on your condition.  Take care, Mollyrae
