Update on Pre-op and Surgery

I want to thank ALL of you who have been PMing me continually throughout the past couple of weeks and have been so concerned  about why I haven't been on the Forum as much as usual!

I WON'T be able to participate in the upcoming weeks as much as in the past, as I will be laid up for about a month after surgery and it will be difficult for me with the DDD that I ALSO have, to be able to SIT and type as I have in the past.  I WILL be on as MUCH as I Possibly can and will keep  you updated with everything as it happens.

I want to Thank you ALL for uderstanding why I haven't been able to post on ALL of your posts.  And I HOPE that you will continue to understand if I can't post on ALL of your posts that come up. Please don't think it's because I don't care about you because that is the FARTHEST thing from the Truth.  I love and care VERY much for each and EVERY one of you!!

I've had a VERY rough 2 weeks trying to get ALL of my tests done and get rid of infections and retaking EKG's and visiting DIFFERENT Doctors just to get the testing approved for my surgery.  Last Monday I FINALLY got the Cardiological approval and then AFTER MANY appointments and tests I FINALLY got the other approvals this afternoon at 1:00pm.

Everything has been received by my Surgical team as the Head Nurse for the Group called this afternoon about 5 O'Clock  and set up the FINAL meeting which will take place this Friday at 11:00am.  They will do the FINAL blood work and tests that have to be drawn to type and whatever else they need. It's been well documented on my other surgeries that I DO hemorrhage so they have to have the blood in place ahead of time.  At least they KNOW I have this History and will be ready for it!! HOPEFULLY, this will be the FIRST time that I don't, and give EVERYONE a BIG Surprise!!  Then at 1:00pm on Friday I will be meeting with the Anesthesiologist to find out what I will be having for the anesthetic and he will do whatever testing HE wants done.  He will ALSO explain HOW they will be controlling my pain AFTER my surgery while I'm in the Hospital.  This of course is CRITICAL since I'm on some pretty strong medication for pain already.  He is in CLOSE contact with my PM doctor so I feel as if I'm in the BEST of Hands.

I met with my PM Doctor yesterday and he assured me that he "has my back" on my pain medication and we set out the plan for controlling ANY surgical pain that I may have when I return home the Saturday, September 11th, AFTER my surgery next Wednesday, September the 8th!!  He has assured me that I WILL have FREE access to him 24/7 while I'm having my WORST surgical pain for the First couple of weeks.  This is why I LOVE my PM Doctor SOOOO much!! He is ALWAYS there for me.

I just wanted to let you all know what's happening and what STILL lies ahead.  Thank you ALL for understanding about the fact that I CAN'T be on NEARLY as much as before BUT I PROMISE to be back just as SOON as I can.

I'm sending you ALL My Thoughts and Prayers that your pain will be under-control and thank you all for CARING as  you have.......Love and ((((HUGS!!)))).......Mama Sherry

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!!  You ALL know how much they mean when you are undergoing surgery OR any type of medical procedure!

Tuck - Thank you for offering to keep everyone updated while I'm in the Hospital.  My Daughter will give you updates to give to the Board.  :) I PROMISE you that I will take it EASY!! This surgery HAS to work as I don't EVER want to have to do this surgery again UNTIL it's time to do the Right Hip (Which shouldn't be for MANY more years!!). As ALWAYS thank you for being here for ALL of us on MH!!! Tuck - It's been SO long since I've RUN after ANY guy I'm not sure I'd even remember HOW - I MIGHT need some pointers from everyone!!!..LOL

Melissa - AS ALWAYS you know EXACTLY what to say to make me feel GOOD.  I PROMISE I will be here as MUCH as I physically can.  I will be sleeping quite a bit the First week and trying to get my Strength up as they will be coming to the house to give me my Physical Therapy everyday.  :)

Karen - Yes I can STILL talk - that won't be a problem UNLESS I'm asleep.  LOL  The end of September SHOULD be MUCH better than the start of it, for ALL of us, I would certainly hope!!  I''m GLAD that you will go back into the Hospital IF you start to feel worse.  That's SOO Important for you.

Gemini - You are ALWAYS kind to us all on MH.  Thank you so much for the encouragement and caring words!!! You are SO correct about the need for a top notch Follow-up team.  The entire surgery hinges on that team!!  :)

My Dear Bree - You are NEVER failing in your support for me and EVERYONE on here. Thank you for the Sweet and Kind words that you said and for ALL of your support!!  It makes it SO much easier to do this.  I WILL follow ALL of their instructions so that I CAN get back to EVERBODY on MH as soon as possible!! I PROMISE!!!

Allison - Thank you for ALL of your support and VERY kind words!! I'm so SORRY that you experienced the Post Partum Hemorrhage.   You are so correct about it being terrifying - ESPECIALLY the First Time!!  You get used to it after that and KNOW that they will be there for you whenever you need them (the Doctor and nurses are who I'm referring to).  PLEASE don't EVER feel that you HAVE to send me ANY notes or even that you have to post - I KNOW how busy you are and whenever you have the time that's ALL that matters!!  :)

My Dearest Sara!! - As ALWAYS you are SO right - I DO have a WONDERFUL surgical and after-care team and I am in VERY GOOD Hands!! I feel perfectly calm NOW about this surgery and can HARDLY wait until it's FINALLY over and I can begin to recuperate!!
I DEFINITELY will rest as much as I can and i plan on doing that BEFORE the surgery also.

You are ALL correct about the rest - you MUST be well rested going into ANY surgery BUT especially this surgery as my rehabilitation will begin the same evening as my surgery. The VERY next morning you get DRESSED and start your physical therapy. The worst part is that - in my opinion as the first night is pretty rough as they come in and TURN you every couple of hours.  So you CAN'T sleep no matter how badly you may WANT to - LOL.. But then that' what a Hospital is famous for - coming in and AWAKENING you from a SOUND sleep JUST to give you a SLEEPING Pill!!!!  That ALWAYS make me laugh.

I Love you all and thank you so much for the well wishes!!!......Mama Sherry

PS I HOPE and PRAY that you ALL will have NO MAJOR flare-ups OR problems of ANY kind until I can be there to help you all through them!!! PLEASE TRY your VERY best Guys!! OK??  :)

Sherry:  It sounds like you're in very good hands.  This surgery is going to go great and you'll feel like a new woman when all is said and done.  We'll have to keep our eye on you to make sure you aren't out all hours of the night partying!

I really do feel that God is looking for you and will be with you all through your surgery and recovery.  But you do your part!  As Jaded and everyone else has mentioned, you rest.  Get your body ready for this.  You're always so positive for us.  Now let us help keep you positive.  And allow God and his angels take care of the rest.

You are very dear and important to each and every one of us.  Take care of yourself.  You've got a great medical team.  And with all the support and prayers you are and will be receiving here, everything will come out great.

(((((((HUGS)))))) my special friend!

Wow! It sounds like you are ready to go! I've been thinking of you quite a bit, and feel so bad that I haven't sent you any notes at all lately...though I'm usually not so regular on the forum anyway--I sort of go through spurts of either a lot of activity or not so much, depending on how I am feeling.  But I do try to send quick notes here and there, and I've not kept up with it enough lately, so I am sorry!

I just wanted to mention that I had a postpartum hemorrhage that was terrifying, so I can only imagine the anxiety you must have going into any of your procedures! It was with my first baby, so with my other two, there were great precautions taken.  I will surely be praying for you even a little bit extra now...the fact that I have gone through something similar brings it closer to home for me, and I just really will be thinking of you a lot over the next 2 weeks.  Hopefully someone will be able to let us all know that the surgery went well??
As long as you can maybe talk to one of us on the phone, so that person can post updates and messages from you, we won't miss you TOO much during your time of recovery:)

Thank you so much for letting us all know what is going on, and we will definitely miss you while you are gone for this short time:) I'm sure you'll be sending all of your positive thoughts and energy to us even when you are not on the forum!
Love, Alison

Like everyone here, I'm also glad you've been able to get everything all set for the surgery!  I hope it will take away a great deal of the pain you've had if not all of it in that hip.  I am hoping for the absolute best outcome of the surgery.
I'm so glad your doctors and surgeons are working together to make sure you get the absolute best care.  You deserve it!
Make sure you get LOTS of rest so that you can heal well and get back to us feeling so much better!
We all love you and will miss you!  Of course you're in my thoughts and prayers as well!
Love,
Bree

I'm so glad you've been able to get everything cleared for your surgery to happen - and at the same time as originall scheduled!  It's wonderful that your surgical team is in such close contact with your PM doc - I think it's so important to have the appropriate follow-up care following any surgery and I'm sure your PM doc will make sure that happens.

I send you best wishes and gentle hugs for aVERY successful surgery and a quick, as painless as possible, recovery.

But you can still talk on the phone, right?  I'm so glad they were able to get everything ready for the surgery, I was getting worried for you.  Just think, at the end of September, we all will be feeling much better and it will be like a new life for several of us members, Molly, Mellie, you, me, etc....  And thank you for calling me today and checking up on me, it was so sweet of you to worry about me when you have so much going on, and thank you for all your advice about going back into the hospital, I promise if I get worse I will let them hospitalize me, with no problem.  I promise!

Love you,

Karen

Thanks Our Dear Sherry,

I appreciate your that you have updated us with your surgical plans. You know you will be missed greatly. So please hurry back but only when you are up to it.

When we talked about your surgery I promised to keep the board updated with your progress....and I will do so. Please be cautious before and after surgery. Don't overdue.

Soon you'll be able to run again...if you so desire...and chase those fellows. :)  Best wishes for a successful surgery and a uneventful and speedy recovery.

You'll be in our thoughts and prayers.

Gentle ((HUGS)),
