I'm experiencing some pain. Hope you could maybe help. I had a small chip on my front tooth. Had it repaired. Had pain right afterwards, and got worse and worse. No xrays show a problem or MRI. The pain is thickening in my front teeth into jaw that travels to my temples for a headache. It's horrible. Do you think I may have this NICO?
Hey, I know this is a tad dated and I've given this advice a few times to others, but ask doc about Topomax (topirimate). It can be miraculous for your condition. Some adverse side effects possible.
awe no problem about the spelling of the name!
i hear ya the nick names are tricky!
thanks so much for your help................
I am sorry I just caught my misspelling of your "name." Please accept my apology. Some of our nicknames are a bit tricky.

He lovemypillowhead,
The spelling is a little off and therefore you may have had trouble locating it. Here is a small quote from a site on Internet:
Neuralgia Inducing Cavitational Osteitis
They are the cause of acute disabling mystery facial pain. Quite often mistaken for Trigeminal Neuralgia, they seem to defy traditional logic. The patient is sure that a tooth is to blame but when the tooth is extracted, the pain moves to another tooth or area. The patient can then loose many healthy teeth as the dentist searches for the cause of the pain. The pain is often referred to another part of the mouth some distance from the NICO site which further confusing the situation. NICO's arise commonly following a "routine extractions" or trauma such as whiplash. The conventional treatment is antidepressants which do partially suppress the symptoms but at a cost. They are no long term solution.
The best diagnostic tools are the Cavitat and Neural Therapy.
I hope this is helpful for you. Take Care, Tuck
WHAT IS NEURALGIA INDUCING CAVITATIONAL OSTEOSIS
?????????????????????
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS.....TREATMENT????????
I HAVE SEVERE TMJ AND SEVERE FACIAL PAIN....BUT I GOOGLED NEURALGIA INDUCING CAVITATIONAL OSTEOSIS AND NOTHING CAME UP. AT ALL.
This may be a form of Trigeminal Neuropathic Pain.
There is a fabulous site of the Facial Pain Association that deals with the various types of facial pain and is dedicated to the treatment of them. For MS (my forum) this is Trigeminal Neuralgia and Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia.

I hope this also has good info for you.

The dead bone would not show up on xray cat scan or MRI the only scanner that shows it is a cavitat scanner. I would highly recommend you check it out. Many professionals claim it does not even exist but I am proof it does as I have had it diagnosed and treated.
Peace
Very interesting!
I'll have to check that out. When I had my accident(s) my jaws slammed shut so hard that it cracked teeth, I got TMJ and after the second accident I had a root canal that took 2 months due to the agony I was in, and the Pain Never Entirely Left! There is no nerve there anymore, so I didn't know what to chalk it up to! The dentist kept x-raying me since the pain was zinging across my face while she was working on me.
Is that part of it?
Can someone PM me the website so I can take a look? I had all kinds of complications after that root canal that I had never had before in any oral surgery.
Thank you again for the info!

I wanted to add that you could print out all the pertinent information about this condition and take it to your Dr so he/she can learn about it and then treat you.
I had no idea the pain I suffer from had a name! Thank you.
I had several teeth extracted and had implants and I have chronic "toothaches in the places where the teeth has been pulled and the nerves severed. I have sought help with this and gotten none and since I do have many other pain issues the meds I take do help with the pain.
I have never heard there was a name for this but I will research and see what I can find out and see if there are any Dr's or dentist that treat this condition.
Have you been diagnosed or just found out about this condition?
