what is causing the very sharp stabbing or pinching pain in my leg? It lasts about a minute. It eases when I apply a heating pad

I am responding to you because I have been experiencing the same exact thing; very sharp pains on the side of my knee.  The pain pulsates and does not travel.    I think Ill take an Aleve to relieve the swelling and ice my lower back, maybe Im pinching a nerve.

The pain in near my knee cap. It is  a pulsation in the same spot and does not travel up or down my leg

Hi, Sorry to hear that you are having  pain. Heat would lead me to think its a muscle issue. But it could be more. Where is the pain located ? In the front, back, does it travel up or down the leg ? Have you done anything that might have caused it ? Let me know and I will try and help. Always keep in mind that if it gets worse or does not quit after a day or two that you shoulc see your PCP.
