You're very lucky to have been able to get in with a PM doctor, and I'm glad to hear that you're getting everything together. I just met up with a new PCP Monday morning that I sought out and she is going to be working with me to get my pain managed as well without the usage of narcotic pain relievers like it had been managed in the past. You were one of the very many people on this site that helped me through a lot of things, and I wish you nothing but the best. Congratulations on one year, by the way!
Please keep me posted on how everything goes. There are options out there that will eventually help, it just takes times! <3
Hi Lesa,
I can only guess what they PM Clinic may be offering you. I assume that you may be prescribed non-narcotic medications from various (drug) families to help control your pain. You may also be offered treatments aimed at treating the source of your pain. Bio-feedback is a possibility as well as individual sessions with a pain therapist.
Because you are an admitted addict I highly doubt that narcotic(s) will be prescribed. This may be some type of research program and they are requesting your participation. Or they may just be looking for solutions to control your pain without narcotics and looking at treatment by utilizing a multi-team approach they justifiably believe they will have a greater chance of success.
Those are my thoughts lesa. I wish you well and hope that you will keep us updated on your progress. I will look forward with interest to hearing from you again.
Take Care,
Tuck
