Make sure you keep trying to find out what is going on and don't give up. Could it be stomach ulcers? I know when I had one it hurt while I was eating or after and at night and then it could go away from some time and out of no where come back. Certain things would make it worse and some would make it better. And where the ulcer was it was always sore to touch. What kind of doctor are you going to? A family Dr?
Hang in there and I hope you find some answers.

Hello Trace,
Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am so sorry that have had to endure undiagnosed pain for ten years. We understand chronic pain and the challenges that it presents in our daily life. I am sorry that you understand that also.
I understand that you have had multiple imaging and medical tests but have you had them repeated recently? If not I encourage you to request a repeat of the important ones. It sure couldn't hurt to consult a new physician, one connected to a large teaching hospital or one of the nationally know clinics. A little thinking outside the box and a fresh set of eyes and ideas may provide you with some answers.
If it has not gotten worse over the last ten years that is encouraging. However because it has persisted for that amount of time must also have some significance. I can't guess what your diagnosis may be. Sara said it well, None of us are physicians but possible one of our members will recognize your symptoms as theirs.
when thinking of that area I would think of the diaphragm, a hiatal hernia, esophageal spasms and similar conditions. But I am far from an expert. You could also be experiencing referred pain, meaning felt in one location but originating in another. Is your pain associated or radiating into your spine at all?
Please let us know how you are doing and the steps you are taking to obtain a diagnosis. Be assertive. You are entitled to know what is going on with your body and you are your own best advocate. We'll look forward to hearing from you again soon. We are here to support you. Please do not hesitate to ask additional question or post again.
Take Care,
~Tuck
Have you looked into chondritis?
I would have no idea what the cause of your pain could be. But please don't give up your search for a cause. Even should it turn out to be nothing serious, its obviously very painful and your pain needs to be treated.
I'd recommend you get a referral to a pain management specialist. Mine doesn't do a lot in the way of diagnosing but does treat the source of my pain. At least you could hope for some pain relief. And high time as well. 10 years is a long time to be in pain.
Perhaps someone will recognize your symptoms. But do keep in mind that we are patients and not doctors. We're glad to welcome you to our forum. Please stick around. Perhaps one of our smart members will know what this is. Welcome!!
