Baby gasps for air??????

Hello ladies so its been a while since my last post and today i figured I'd ask for advice you see i have a 2 year old and my little nugget who is 6months old well when she was a newborn it seemed she would have a bit of a hard time breathing in her sleep it sounded like she would gasp for air with a high pitch squeal and omg i wouldn't sleep at night just being scared and worried she would stop breathing.. It happens on average maybe 5 or 6 times every hour so i asked her primary dr why she would do that and she said her larynx was still developing and thats why babies did that and it was normal that once she got older she would grow out of it. She had stopped but now shes 6 months and she started doing that again i can't help but worry about my baby and i talked to her dr know about my concerns but she says its normal.. Have any of you dealt with a similar situation? I was thinking of maybe taking her to the city to a diferent dr for a second opinion im just scared that something can happen to my little one. (Not to mention with my first none of this happened so thats why im freaking out.)

It sounds like sleep apnea to me.  Does she stop breathing,  and then suddenly gasps for air because she's oxygen deprived?  Your doctor is right,  that baby's breathing can be irregular in infancy,  but you might also want to research apnea.

Oops,  sorry,  apparently that link isn't allowed. Just google "sleep apnea in babies" and you'll get information.
