People who are against it are very persistent on others to follow suit. As his mother you always will have the final say and she is very rude for her behavior and approach. My 19m had it done and it was a month after due to him being in NICU but everything went well. He had the plasty bell (? Spelling) and it fell off in a week. Keep strong and stand your ground hunny, sounds like MIL needs a good talkin.
Let me just share my personal experience with you, because that is the only advice I can really give. When our son was born we had him circumcised because it just seemed like the "normal" thing to do. Once it was done I almost instantly regretted it. Before the procedure he never once cried,(at least not intensely) but afterward as soon as they wheeled him back in my room, you could tell the cries were out of pain. They say they can't feel it but what they mean is they won't remember it. And the truth is, if you do your research you'll find that the whole "it's easier to keep it clean" is a myth, and the only reason doctors and hospitals still push the procedure is the extra bill the can charge you for it. Of course there are some doctors that may have good intentions and are just doing what they were taught in school, idk. I can only tell you what I've experienced, and after having that happen with our son, my husband and I both agreed that if baby #2 was another boy we would skip the procedure and just go home. Also they have to make sure that the baby pees before they will do a circumcision, so we spent an extra two days in the hospital waiting for him to pee then when he wouldn't, the cleaned out his stomach to make sure there was formula there (which there was) then cathed him to make sure there was urine there (again, also there). It all seemed so unnecessary and I felt so bad for my baby boy to go through all of that just to have this unnecessary procedure done all in the sake of social vanity later in life which is basically the only worry we had about not doing it. Thankfully baby #2 is a girl so we didn't have to worry about it this time around.
I didn't have my son circumcised, but its up to the parent. My sisters were putting me down for it, so im in the same boat just on the opposite side, When all is said and done it is your child and your choice!
My husband, brothers (all 6 of them) and nephews are all circumcised and are healthy, clean and don't have any issues. It can be a bit emotional to circumcise your son, but it's good for him and you're definitely not stupid for doing it.
On my side of the family, all men are. But but husbands side non of the men are including my husband. With our son the little debate came up my husband said "it's what we do in my family " and my mother said "it's not in ours" my husband is a easy going guy, so we did indeed get this done.
I believe it's cleaner for him once he's a man. The choice is YOURS. this is your son not hers. Tell her nicely too keep stepping.
No one in either my family or my husbands is circumcised. None have had health or cleanliness problems. We have discussed it with our pediatrician who also feels it is not medically necessary. But the fact is that it is you and your husbands choice. Period. Too bad for your MIL. She got her choice with her kids, this is your child and 100% your decision (with dad of course). Stay strong!!
I'm due in 2 weeks I'm having a boy and ask my doctor for advice she told me circumcision helps to prevent STD's helps to prevent human papilloma virus and infections. So yes my baby is gonna have circumcision. Besides that should be you and your husband desicion no body else. Don't let anyone make u feel bad. Speak up and tell your mother in law is your son your desicion period and that you expect respect.
all 3 of my nephews were circumcised and most insurances will not pay for it but if u do it while they are a new born they won't remember it so it is less traumatizing and they had no issues as long as u follow care instructions u shouldn't either and it only hurts them for a second because or at least that's what I'm assuming Cuz they all cried for a short time. the area may be a little sensitive for a few days but just be careful when u have to clean him up and definitely when u put him in a carseat because u can pinch him when u buckle him up.
I had my first circumcised he cried for maybe 2 seconds and was completely fine afterwards. I just had to put cream on it and it worked great...no infections. I know more people are not having it done nowadays but you and your husband should decide that. She will just have to accept it and get over it.
We plan to have our first son circumcised when he comes in April. My hubby was circumcised later in life and doesn't want our son going through that.
I had my older boys circumcised and they were perfectly fine I will also have my third son circumcised when he arrives in Jan.
I'll be getting my baby circumcising when he come n jan best thing to do
I'll be circumcising my son due in January.
Don't let her get to you. This is You and your husbands baby not here it's just her grandchild so she doesn't have a say in what the mother and father of the baby think is best. Goodluck with everything tho congrats on the baby
A circumcision is the best thing for boys. The healing process is fast as long as you take care of it properly which your nurse will instruct you on how to do. It lowers the risk for STI in boys and it's just cleaner seeing as most boys won't properly wash under a flap of skin. My first was circumcised it doesn't leave any scars and i plan to have my son due in March also circumsized.
