social skills??

we have a happy, healthy loving 9 year old girl. for some years now we have worried about her interaction with other children, particularly her own age group. She can be very bossy and her way is often the only way (and often unconventional!) this leads her often play with younger children as they endulge her. She also seems to have a little difficulty focusing and applying herself to given tasks prefering to go off on a tangent. I am worried that the problem will be compounded when she reaches secondry school where often the children can be a lot nastier and less tolerant. For some reason her teacher has suggested drama classes but i feel this is the last thing she needs. I recognise a lot of the problems she has with my own (argumentative and bossy)and am fearful of my daughter causing herself the same unnecessary problems as i have done.
Do you think i am worrying unnecessarily.

Drama Classes would be great for your daughter and would be channelling her Bossy" behavior in a postive way,the teacher has spotted this, instead of repressing it she will be using it.,it is natural for you to be concerned for your daughter ,I think it is good to let her use this behavior in acting and is is feeding her personality in a good positive way,Good luck

No- I would be concerned too. I think you are a good mother to care about all this and look ahead to be proactive about it.

I can see both sides too about the theatre arts classes.

Good luck
