I agree with rockrose and just recently I was having this issue with my boys and catching their bus in the morning. "let's go! let's go! let's go!" was my mantra it seemed. Well, I decided to not do that and guess what? They missed the bus. My boys are only in first and second grade and don't like to miss the bus. Now I say, guys, you are going to miss the bus and boom, they get ready because they know that I'm only saying it once and then they suffer the consequence if they don't get out the door. Pretty powerful stuff.
I also agree about making things easy in the morning, lay the close out, get the back pack ready, etc.
good luck
You should take her a bath during the night like at 7pm so in the morning yu dont have to dread waking up so early and her taking her sweet time just to shower..
I had that problem too. You can fall into the rut of yelling at them, because they learn they can pace their routine by how frantic you're getting. When you're in full yell mode, it's probably about time to complete the task to get it done on time.
I found this out when I had a horrible sore throat with laryngitis. I couldn't speak loudly, and every word hurt. During that week, my kids learned to respond to what I said the first time, because there wasn't going to be a second warning.
Effective teachers lower their voices, and say things only once. She may end up being late a couple times before she gets the idea to motivate herself - but you know for sure the teacher isn't following her around in school telling her to do things 8 times.
She can do it.
Best wishes.
