my one year old with 4.79 mm perimembraneous vsd

Hi my son is 1 year old now and he was diagnosed with a 5-6 mm moderate sized vsd at birth and we have been following up by doing echo tests every 3 months. At about 9 months we were told that the size has reduced a little due to some tissue formation around it and its 4.79 mm now. He has L-R shunt, left heart enlargement. not on any medication. apart from that he's active and has not had much issues with weight gain/activities etc. He was 3.2 kg at birth and is 10.4 kg now. Is there any chance of the hole closing by its own? Can someone help ? his next cardio appointment is in October'17
