Is my daughter considered "short stature"?

Hi! My daughter is 3 years 9 months old. She weighs 27lbs and is just shy of 36 inches tall. She was born full term weighing 8lbs 11oz and 20.5 inches. She had what I would describe as severe GERD until about 14 months of age. Her subsequent failure to thrive was attributed to her vomiting multiple times a day. However, we have not seen any real catch up growth percentile wise and her appetite is great since the reflux has resolved. She has chronic abdominal bloating which her family doctor says is from her pectus excavatum and overeating. But if she is overeating, why is she only 27lbs at almost 4 years old? (rhetorical question, of course). She also has flat feet and knock knees.
I am 5ft 5 and her father is 5ft 9. Do you consider her to be
short stature?? Should we request an endocrinology referral?

you are right it was suppose to be 48 not 38. sorry.. that gave me a chuckle this morning...one thing I find hard for him is as he gets older he gets out of the little boyish stuff as far as clothing and wants to be in regular clothes (like his oldest brother, plain shirt with no printing on them) and you can't find those in a size 4..
I hope everything comes out in a good way with any further testing that may be done. all i can say is if you truly feel there is something wrong, then don't stop..
good luck and thank you for pointing that out for me

Thank you for your reply. I felt compelled to tell you though, that if those are your son's true measurements, than he is actually 6% for weight and SIGNIFICANTLY below the charts for height. I hope you meant 48 inches. Here's a link to show you what I mean:

If he's 48 inches, he's in the 50%

I don't want to alarm you and I truly do appreciate the support......I just want you to be sure your doc is giving you correct stats on your sweet boy.

Hi
i have 4 sons  my oldest is 19 and he is well over 6 feet and not sure about his weight.. my 12 year old is 5 feet 4 inches and well over weight.. my 8 year old is 65 pounds and 50 inches and now here comes my peanut.. he just turned 7 years old.. he is 38 inches and weighs only 42 pounds making him in the 20 and 21% for both height and weight...he was born at eactly 8 pounds and by 4 months weighed only 11 pounds.. my husband and I are both 5 feet 6 inches and well lets say i weigh the least of the 2 and i weigh 145..i would say as long as she is healthy eating wise and either staying the same weight or gaining then i honestly wouldn't worry... if she is loosing then i would be concerned.. I know it is easier said then done. but you may just have a small little peanut on your hands..
good luck and don't apologize for your post.. you never know if someone is going through the same thing and can be a great support person for you..
Hugs

Her doctor is not at all concerned that she is below the 3rd for weight and height. She's been worked up for the basic stuff like CF, Celiac, etc. However, my husband and I are worried we are missing something. And this question was meant for the pediatric endocrinologist, but somehow it ended up here. Apologies.

The only person who should be telling you she is short is the doctor.  My doctor gives us a printout every year at my son's well-child exam that shows how his height and weight compare to the average child's.  Doesn't your doctor do anything like that?
