My 5 month old son has constant eye twitching?

My son is 5 months old and since birth his eyes have twitched back and forth. He cannot focus on anything. We took him to an eye doctor who said that it is a rare disorder that people usually get later on in life. He made it sound as if he has never seen a newborn baby with this problem and said he has no idea what could have caused it. He said typically people with it have a disease behind their eyes but that my sons eyes look great. He said that there is no cure at all for this. That my son will just have to learn how to deal with never seeing things stay still or clearly. We considered getting a second oppinion so I was wondering if any of you have gone through this or know someone who has? Thanks

try taking cod liver oil as  you breast feed your baby.The reasons for cod liver is DHA and Vit. A. Also try get B complex in your diet. Special baby needs special diet. Your baby eye is in process of continue to develop meaning there is chance to improve his condition. You have two years to improve his sight condition. Also  try change you diet in process and observe for changes in your sons condition. We are doing the same here.

Also try change his environment.. go a stay with your friends or parent who staying far away. Important observe for changes carefully.

Keep in mind doctors are something book dummies.

i am not sure if we both seeing the same medical condition or not.. my son is having weight issue also.  He was on breast milk and weight started going down after switched to formula. Involuntary eye movement started just after his first birthday...  he was diagnose for Optical Atrophy; now I am struggling to find out why his weight gone down. Hoping it could save his sight by understanding his weight issue.

You might want to refer to a good/experience ophthalmology; I hate them :(....

it sound like nystagmus... my son has the same condition but ... he able to focus things. We are supplementing him with cod liver for DHA and Vit.A boost... is your son on breast milk or formula?
