My seven year old son is going through this for the first time this year. With school just starting we are assuming that he caught a bug at school. He has had this fever that is up and down for about one week now. Has your child been able to get rid of the fevers? did you find any answers on this condition?
Sorry try putting into the search engine ...Scientists identify new treatment for PFAPA
Please read the other post here about the same thing there is a new treatment I have posted the link for the information ..its on the post.below this one .
my seven year old too! since february 2011.. it is now october 2011, high fevers up to 106 every 21-23 days to the point where i can now predict them.. antibiotics or not, they just resolve in 4-5 days. has anyone gotten any answers? what happened to some of the kids from when this discussion started - diagnosis, or did the fevers just stop? we are going back to the doctor for blood tests tomorrow - she hasn't taken it seriously until now, she was telling me it was just different viruses from school..
I see the original thread is 2 years old so they may not see your question you can contact by message . I am wondering if it can be from strep throat ,what other symptoms does your child have .?
My 7 yr old son has been battling this same thing. Is the fever accompanied by a severe headache at onset of fevers? We keep being told that he is just fighting off viruses, but my mommy intuition tells me it is something more. We have had 5 episodes of this since the beginning of this school year. Just from doing some online research the only thing I come up with is virus, sinus, or familial Mediterranean fever also known as FMF or periodic fever syndrome. So far this seems to be a stretch but the closest thing to an answer I've found. We are going back to the doctor tomorrow to see what they say this time........so frustrating when you know something is going on and it's your baby and you have no real answer......:(
