food-borne illnesses

hello everybody. please, at what risk is 15 months old child eating unwashed carrot dirty with soil for getting listeriosis? i have read recently unwashed vegetables are quite risky and now i am sooo afraid. i tried to find some info but everybody speaks only about newborns or pregnancy.. well, i think, many children eat accidentaly this kind of things.. so i dont know if to worry or no... any experience or info or advice? thank you very much!

Yes there is a risk of E Coli and salmonella ..all fruits and veg should be washed under running water .How long has it been since your child ate the carrots ?
