I'm 32+5, went to the doc today and he said that I'm measuring 36. I have to go back Monday for an U/S to see how big my boy is. My other 3 kids were all big. They weighed between 7lb 14oz and 8lb 8oz and measured between 20&1/2in and 21&1/2in. And I had them all naturally. What do you think the chances are of me needing to have a c-section for this one?? Not sure what to expect since my youngest was my biggest and each child was bigger than the one before....

@Number3at39- good luck with your lil man. It sounds like he is gona be good & healthy. I just had another u/s today @ 36+4. My lil man is measuring abt 38+4 and weighs abt 7lbs already. If I go to 40, it looks like he is gona be abt 9lbs.

@BabyAndMe2013- l'm planning on delivering vaginally again this time like I did with my other 3. I'm just afraid I might have a hard time since he will probably be bigger than my othets and I may break his collar bone like I did when I delivered my other 3.

Lol an eight pound baby is big to yall? I thought 7 was average. When I watch A Baby Story the only thing they say is big, is 9lbs and over. Nonetheless I think a vaginal birth is ideal. I dont see why you would need a c section unless your pelvis is too small for the babys head, or its breech. Even with breech they may be able to get baby to turn.

Just wanted to update my situation and hope it helps.  I just had my 20 ultrasound and im already measuring 22 weeks 2 days.  My conception date is accurate.  Everything else looks good.  Looks like this baby will be bigger as well.

I guess it's one of them things I never dealt with in my previous pregnancies so I wasn't sure what to expect. With my other 3, my fundal height always measured right on as well as the 20 week u/s. with this one, when I had my 19 week u/s my fundal height was right on but he was        measuring abt 2 weeks larger in length and weight.

Numer3, the pic I have posted was at 29 weeks, and I'm even bigger now. Those clothes don't even fit me any more...lol...let alone the clothes I just bought 2 weeks ago that I bought big

Number3,  how much did your baby weigh?

My middle son was 9 lbs 3 oz,  and my belly didn't look all that much larger carrying him than it looked for my two other sons who were 7 lbs and a few ounces.

I agree with what others write. In addition the more we progress with our pregnancies the more unreliable the weight assessments are. Ultrasound is more reliable during the 1st trimester than later. So do not worry ascsuch.

Thanks y'all. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one dealing with this and that I shouldn't have problems delivering vaginally. I'll let y'all know about how big my lil man is Monday after I have the u/s done.

I would like to add that my two year is in the 65 percentile for weight and head circumferance.  Also ,  90 percentile in length.  Shes tall!  As long as the fetuses organs/body parts are proportionate, you dont have anything to worry about.

BTW, there was no reason found why my babies are larger. Im pregnant with my third ,  and this one as well as the other two were larger.   Im thinking its genetic.

My situation is the same as yours.  When pregnant with my 2 yr old, she measured 4-6 weeks larger.  She was just a bigger baby.  Everything turned out fine.  I delivered vaginally.  However, torwards the end of the pregnancy,  it became very uncomfortable to carry all that weight. I had a hard time walking due to the ligament pains and psiatica.  I also had polyhydramnios,  which is excessive amniotic fluid.

With the current pregnancy,  im 19 weeks pregnant and measuring larger as well.  Its already becoming very uncomfortable.  I just have bigger babies.

From what the doctor told me,  im more likely to have the baby earlier because of all the weight.  If i dont have the baby by the due date,  i will be induced.  Again going for the vaginal delivery. You shouldnt  need a c-section just because the baby is bigger.

Since you don't have gestational diabetes,  the chances of him being really large aren't high.

And since you didn't have difficulty delivering an 8 1/2 pound baby,  my guess is they won't do a section if your baby is a little larger than that.

Happy pushing   ;D

I did have some due to the cord being wrapped around his neck twice and extremely tight. other than that, no.

Did you have trouble delivering your biggest baby?

I do understand that, that's why I'm having an u/s done on Monday. I was just wondering if anyone might know what the chances of a c-section would be if he was real big and that I wasn't measuring big due to the fluid.

It's not really clear your baby is big - when they measure you (I'm sure you know this) they're measuring the size of your uterus.  It's very likely that you've got a lot of amniotic fluid that's making your uterus bigger than expected but your baby may be average size.

I don't know what to think. By my last ultrasound at 29 weeks my baby is measuring small. At my 32 week OB appt I measured 35. Yet I haven't gained one pound this whole time. I just don't think they can be totally accurate.

I don't think you'll need a csection though. Lots of women have big babies naturally. My grandmother's smallest was 8 pounds, her largest 14. All born naturally.

No I didn't have it with any of them. I didn't even have preeclampsia with any of them although they were keeping an eye on me due to all the weight gain.
