There are also options of some specific exercises and acupuncture besides the manual turning. Also, if I were in your position, I would schedule the manual turning a day or two before doctors suggested c section date. That way, I withhold be prepared to receive the baby, and if he/she turns, I can cancle the c section. Plus they monitor you and the baby the whole time.

I went to a chiropractor who does Webster's technique. It opens and aligns the hips to give the baby space. I'm not sure if that's why, but he turned at 36 weeks. My doctor said he probably would have turned anyway, but supported me going. If nothing else, my hips felt great. I went 3 times, twice before he turned, and once after, because I already had the appointment.
I would avoid the manual turning. My doctor said it often results in emergency c section, and its better to have a planned c section than an emergency one. In my case, though, I had an anterior placenta, so the risk of separation was super high.
