Emergency C-Section

Well our little guy made his early arrival on May 27th, 2014. I was 34 weeks 6 days along. I was having non stop contractions for a few days and had no idea why. On Tuesday my obgyn called to see how the contractions were and sent me for another regular stress test. They told me to go to the hospital for my stress test just in case there were any complications. They hooked me up to the monitors and were a little concerned with how many contractions I had and how often. So they decided to monitor me longer. As some more time passed they also informed me that the babys heartbeat wasn't really spiking at all on top of me having high blood pressure and babys movements weren't what they wanted to see. They then decided to check again if I was dialated which I wasn't but was still having the non stop contractions. Then did an ultrasound to check the babys movements. He wasn't moving as much as they'd like and were worried he was under alot of stress. They then took me over to maternal fetal medicine to get a more in depth ultrasound done (I'd already been getting these kind of ultrasounds done since the end of the second trimester because of an abnormal blood screening) before I knew it they told me they were taking me to labor and delivery. At this point I had no idea exactly what was going on. I called my husband to inform him they were taking me to l&d. Not too long after he and my mother and law arrived my obgyn came to meet us at the hospital and before I knew it they were prepping me for an emergency c section. All that was going through my head was whats going to happen to my baby. Everything was happening so fast. During the entire c section I just laid there waiting to hear his cry. After he was delivered they brought him over to me to see him and hold him and within seconds he was turning blue, they took him from me and they rushed him over to the NICU. For the first couple days of his life almost up to a week he was hooked up to an IV, had a feeding tube, on oxygen, in an incubator and among many other things. It broke my heart seeing our baby like this. But the hardest part was having to leave him the day I was discharged from the hospital. Having to go home without your baby is so heartbreaking. But good news is we brought our baby home last night (10 days after his delivery) and hes doing great :-) Maximus was born at 4 pounds 4 oz and 17 in. My heart goes out to the mothers of premies. Just keep your head up and stay positive, miracles do happen, and they may be little but their strong, our little one proved that to me :-)
