HCG levels decreasing. .

I went to the doctor for my first vaginal ultrasound Thursday.  Couldn't find a heartbeat, did see sac and something, but Dr. Thought I might be too early to tell or  it's an abnormal pregnancy. Did blood test, hcg levels at 16000 and then second set 48 hrs later 13000. I am assuming miscarriage on the horizon? Have been spotting,  but not crazy bleeding. . Can it take a while to miscarry? Could everything be ok? So hard to be in the not knowing phase. Anyone have any advice or knowledge out there? Greatly appreciated!

I'm really sorry. Hcg levels look very much like miscarriage. My last pregnancy we saw a heartbeat at 6 weeks...then at 8 weeks no heartbeat. I waited to see if everything would pass on its own but it had made no progress 6 weeks passed and nothing. Yes something you can have missed miscarriage...

I agree with the above posters. I began miscarrying a month and one day ago. Yes it can take awhile. It just all depends on how your body handles it. So sorry for your loss hun. Prayers your way

Waiting is hard.  It really doesn't sound like there's much hope this is a viable pregnancy,  since your HCG levels are decreasing and you're spotting.

If you are miscarrying,  ask if you can miscarry naturally and avoid a DNC if possible - it's much easier on your body and you can start to try again for a healthy pregnancy sooner.
