7 weeks pregnancy but no heartbeat

I have done an IVF and now should be 7 weeks and 3 days. Just did an u/s on Aug 13, yolk sac is seen but no heartbeat was detected. My HCG was 30K on Aug 13 and 22K on Aug 8 and doctor said it grew slower than it should be. Is it likely that the baby isn't growing anymore ?
My last pregnancy ended in week 5 where the baby grew no more. The egg from this IVF came from the same cycle stimulation in last December. Is it possible that our choromosomes have problem that the baby even implanted will not grow healthily ? Do we have to take any test on our chromosomes ? Please advise.

I'm sorry your going through such a difficult time.

Typically yes, at 7 weeks a heartbeat is seen.  However, your Dr. is truly the only one that can diagnose this, and chances are he/she will want one more u/s to be certain.  I would make sure you follow up to be absolutely certain prior to making any decisions.

Having a miscarriage, and even two, is not uncommon.  It does not mean anything is wrong with either you or your husband,.  Chromosomnal abnormality is the most common reason for first trimester miscarriage, but that does not mean there is a problem with the two of you.  With most first trimester miscarriages it is just bad luck.  Something just didn't come together the way it should.  Having had 2 does NOT increase your chances of another.  Most Dr.s will only do testing if there are 3.  I had 5, then a healthy baby, so there is always hope.

I'm so sorry, and I wish you well.

Thanks both of you. Will keep myself as positve as possible before the coming u/s this Sat. Will keep you informed. My body just seems to change everyday. Sometimes I have a stronger "pregnancy" feeling but sometimes it just went away. Don't know if it happens that way in a normal pregnancy.

Hello, i astrongly agree with adgal because i had a few misscarriages myself and believe you me every last is tramatic. I agree that the first trimester just maybe a little chemical un-balanced , i don't no why but it's natures way. Anyways i wish you lots of luck and keep us informed.
