Inducing Labor w/ two vessel cord baby

I'm an older mother, 51, and am pregnant with our third child due in December.  Our baby was found to have a two vessel cord at the ultrasound done at 20 wks. Everything else on the more detailed 23 wk ultrasound looked fine, as well as an EKG of our baby's heart done a couple weeks later.

Does anyone have any information about inducing labor with a two vessel cord baby? I came across two things on the internet that said it causes stress to these babies to put them through an induced labor. They did not give reasons why though.  I want to have as natural a birth as possible, but I know if there are problems with the baby not growing that they will want to induce labor.  I know that many times older mothers are induced too, so I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about it.

Hi Pam,
Thanks for your kind words. We conceived naturally. We weren't trying to get pregnant. We've used natural family planning without conceiving for all these years, so this little one was quite a surprise to us. I thought I was starting menopause, but God had other plans for us. Yes, she will be a wonderful Christmas gift to us!

Hello!  I also can not help with your specific question...but I would like to say WOW-- Congratulations on being pregnant at 51!  I think that's amazing and pretty special at that!  Did you conceive naturally or with fertility enhancers?  I love to hear when women near or at your age become pregnant, it truly is an inspiration for those trying on this forum.  What a beautiful magical Christmas present!!  Please keep us posted!  Pam

Thanks, Adgal! This has been a wonderful pregnancy with no problems. I felt so good and had no nausea, so did not think I could possibly be pregnant!  I found out at 10 wks that I was indeed pregnant. With my first son I was sick for the first trimester every day. With the second I felt queasy, but did not actually get sick. I couldn't stand the smell of coffee or bacon with either one. With this one, I drank my two cups of coffee every day and it tasted and smelled fine. I quit coffee after finding out I was pregnant though.

My boys are now 27 and 25! They are excited about having a little sister. My son Josh said he prayed when he was 12 that God would give him a baby sister.  He says this really takes the pressure off them about having grandchildren. Neither are married yet.
