Advice / Opinions

Hi everyone.  I feel silly asking this question, because I feel like I am too old and should know better, but it is really nagging at me.  I was not careful with my bc pills for a couple of months, even thought I had a good chance of getting pregnant because of timing, but I got my period in December, then again in January, and this past month (last half of January through the first part of February) I was diligent with my pills.  However, I realized about a week after I should have started that I hadn't gotten my period, then a little bit of light brown discharge, not even enough for a liner began, this lasted four days or so, then this stopped.  I should have started around the 12th and I tested yesterday morning, the 20th, it was negative, not even a hint of a line.  I called my ob/gyn and the nurse said to take my pills and be more careful.

I know that odds are that it is just a reaction to the pills, but I am 36 and have a child already, even when I got off my pills, had a miscarriage and after having my daughter then getting back on my pills I never missed a period.  The only time I have missed a period has been when I have been pregnant.  Has anyone experienced this?  I am just concerned because they told me to start my next pack of bc pills, and when I was pregant before I was very strict about what I ate, drank, etc.  I know if I change everything now as a precaution it will be obvious to those around me, and I don't want to throw up red flags at my work.  Anyway, I was hoping some of you all could offer some insite and/or suggestions.

Thanks everyone.

I tested this morning with an EPT digital, not pregnant.  I'm still debating on calling my doctor, though odds are that I just skipped a period.  I haven't seemed any more stressed than usual, and I was actually much more consistent with my pills this month, so it definately seems odd.  I am also pretty achy, sore back and glands around my neck and last week I thought maybe I had caught a slight stomach bug.  But, I have never had the problem of not testing postive on HPTs when I was pregnant, so it would seem strange if that started now.

I tested Sunday evening, thinking it would show if positive, with my first two pregnancies it showed right away and it was a definate negative.  So, I tested Monday morning with FMU, and it was a definate negative as well.  I am going to test again tomorrow and then if still negative call my dr back and ask for a blood test.  I am on the full pill, and have always gotten my period.  In the past, even if i missed pills, it usually come early, if not early then occassionally, albeit rarely, a few days late. I am almost 10 days late.

did you use first morning wee when you ested, if your on the full pill not the mini pill you should have had your period, no matter what..... it it designed so that when you stop taking it for those 7 days your period comes... I would be worried about starting the next pack if infact you are actually pregnant,  I would retest using first morning wee, treat yourself as if you are pregnant in the mean time and maybe look at getting a blood test if your hpt shows up neg, bearing in mind alsot of ladies dont test pos until around 8 wks on a hpt, good luck
