Thank you, ladies. l spoke with my doctor, and l gave me instructions.
Time your contractions. I used an android app for that. When I was at 5-1-1, that is contractions every 5 minutes, each 1 minute long, and that being consistent for 1 hr, I called the hospital. They asked me to come in through the emergency room entrance because it was after hours. (If it would have been during regular hours,I would have been asked to come in through the regular entrance and go straight to the maternity ward.) Now my hospital's policy was, the delivery would be done by on call doc. So thew was no waiting as such for my doc. You ask your doctor what his/her/your hospital's policy is. Anyways, they did my registration at the emergency entrance, and sent me to the maternity ward.
It may depend on your doctor/hospital. Mine said not to bother to call them and just to go straight to labor and delivery. To not go to the ER either since they can't do anything but tell me to go upstairs to L&D. The hospital will call my doctor for me!
When u get the contractions 3 to 5 min apart or ur water beaks u call the doc office (if it's after hours they should have an answering service) let them know ur going in.. and head to the hospital. Once u get to the hospital ull be asked who ur doc is and they will also contact ir doc. So even if u didn't get a hold of him the hospital will. U letting them know is just a heads up. It will be ur nurses calling the hospital know making sure it is true labour or not. The doc will arrive later when ur abt to deliver
Congratulations! My plan is to go to emergency. I did before and when they see that you're pregnant, they get you to L&D so fast it's crazy.
