Low hcg and low progesterone

Hi everyone, I recently had a miscarriage (11/4/09) and just found out I am preg again on 12/6/09. I went to the dr and had some bloodwork done.

12/7 hcg 36 and prog 6.7
12/9 hcg 47 and they didn't test prog

The dr put me on a prog supplement 12/10. Could the levels be so low because I am possiblily only 2-3 weeks pregnant? I am concerned because they aren't doubling but also read online that they start doubling in weeks 2-4. Do you think it could be too early to get nervous? I am so paranoid since I just had a miscarriage and very concerned about the fact they aren't doubling. Dr is going to test levels again in one week, they say it could just be too early and they don't know if it is "normal" at these rates so early because they normally don't even see anyone until week 6. Please help!

That totally stinks.  I've been through it time and time again so I know how much it stinks.  I agree with adgal, this is the time to pamper yourself.  Next time will be the one that sticks I just know it :)   Be sure to stay in touch!

Well, so much for wishful thinking. I just started bleeding after typing my message to you. Hopefully the third try is a charm. I think I will wait one cycle in between this time to hopefully increase my chances.

It is really tough.  Especially after having one with no problems.  It's like, "What the heck is going on?"  I'm sure after  next week it will be smooth sailing.  Can't wait to hear the good news :)

Thank you both for your comments! I really hope my situation turns out like yours Adgal. Congrats on your pregnancy! Kristine - I am seeing my regular OB. I need to just relax and wait and see what happens next week but that is so hard to do! I had my first baby with no problems so this is all new to me.

I also got pregnant immediately following a miscarriage.  My first HCG level was only 33, and my OB wouldn't test them again for a week.  It almost drove me crazy, but she said that early, testing 2 days apart would only be stressful.  I do not know what my progesterone levels were.  A week later my HCG levels were 1000 (give or take) and I am now 33 weeks with a healthy baby.  Give it time and I hope all works out for you.  I know the waiting is hard and you are probably very scared, but try to keep yourself busy and time will pass quickly.  I wish you all the best!

Congrats on your pregnancy!  That is really really awesome.

May I ask, are you seeing a regular OB or a specialist (RE)?  The reason I ask is because generally an RE would test your levels this early and have a pretty good interpretation of those levels based on two consecutive tests.

I would say especially since you got pregnant right up against a mc it is really really tough for them to "date" it.  They can usually date it based on the last day of your menstrual cycle.  Since you don't have a last menstrual cycle to go by, that's probably making it tough for them.

So that's probably why they want you back in one week.  I know it is totally tough to wait.  Believe me I've been through it a million times!  Try to stay positive.  It ain't over until the fat lady sings :)  Sending you positive thoughts :)
