Thanks for your resposnses and encouragement, ladies! It helps a lot. Tilted uterus (maybe I have one?) and Ziggy's position (eg, Ziggy Zygote) could have impacted the measurement. (I'm pretty certain of the dates because we were in the middle of moving at the time and let's say there weren't many opportunities for conception to take place! If Ziggy really were 5 weeks 3 days, I would have conceived the same weekend my pd was due.)
Thinking positive.

I had the exact same thing happen to me just a couple weeks ago. From my last LMP I should have been measuring at 7 weeks. But when I went in I was measuring at 6 weeks and I just went into the ER that Sunday and was measuring 6 weeks then. So she was concerned that there had been no growth from Sunday to Friday. So I had to go back on the 2nd and low and behold my baby 7 weeks 5 days and everytime she moved the wand around my lil butterbeans size seem to get bigger and my due date kept getting moved up. I do have a have a tilted uterus so I think that is why she didnt get the right measurement at first. And right now I am starting to show and I am supposedly only 8 weeks 5 days along. So I still feel the measurement is off because I look about 3 months already. Granted I am a real petite womn but still. So my advice to you is do not stress, stay positive and pray. I know that is what helped me get through that week and my lil butterbean is doing great!
Congrats on your new Angel blessing and I will keep you in my prayer!
The most common reason for this is miscalculated dates. There is also the possiblity of late ovulation (especially if you do not have a 28 day cycle.) The heartbeat is great for this stage, so honestly it sounds fine. I know its hard not to worry, but that is a healthy heartbeat and that is usually a very good sign that all is fine. Take care.
Hi there,
If you have a tilted uterus, early ultrasounds can appear to measure smaller than the embryo really is. From what I have read, by the end of the 1st trimester this tends to resolve itself, as the uterus moves forward and the u/s tech gets a better angle on the fetus.
I don't have any great advice for you except to just keep taking your prenatals, keep your nutrition up and try to let go of your worst-case scenario fears. I know that is much easier said than done. I hope for the very best for you.
