@ milkyvaz, I live in FL and some wknds the beach is closed due to high bacteria content in the water, ie. E. Coli.
So some of the other posters that say salt water doesn't have as many germs as fresh r way off. Just sayin, u don't want to risk anything to u or ur baby's health because of an indiscretion...
When the mucus plug does stop germs from traveling directly to the placenta, it does not eradicate the possibility of vaginal infections not directly involving the placenta.
The mucas plug is there to prevent anything from going up there and causing infection, they strongly advise against water being pushed up there though so definitely tell your dr. Also the ocean has all kinds of poo in it. You never know.
Actually, there's a huge difference between swimming in the water and having sex in it. Your bathing suit as well as a closed vaginia protect you from grams and bacteria directly entering your vaginal tract. When you allow pen et ration to occur, you open yourself up (literally) to those things entering your body (not to mention microorganisms that live in the sea).
Don't worry- our bodies change during pregnancy to protect the baby from infection (ie- thickened cervical mucus). Also, consider if you'd be panicking about infection if you were not pregnant? Probably not. Yes, our immune defences may be reduced during pregnancy, but if going in the ocean was such a high risk, we'd all be told not to. I can't imagine that having sex in the water is any greater risk than swimming- once you're in the water what difference is there, really...?
Just because others would be anxious about doing something during pregnancy, it doesn't mean you've done anything wrong. Relax and work on getting on with and reinforcing your relationship. X
Not to scare you but I do agree with Chloecgc1023. I would worried more if it was on Florida beaches. On the recent news I saw, they reported about a bacteria found on those beaches that is threating lives.Becareful next time.
Your probably fine. The ocean has way less germs than fresh water has, as the salt content keeps the microbe level down. Just bring it up at your next appointment, but in the meantime, definitely don't stress about it.
That's pretty wild. I would've been too concerned about introducing germs in ur hoo haa to be relaxed enough to have sex while in the ocean. I have to admit that wasn't very smart. I hope that once u got back ur house to shower u cleaned urself pretty good to get rid of any bacteria and sand that could've gotten in there. If ur not having any kind of pain or cramping or bleeding from ur rendezvous then I would think ur probably in the clear. But I definitely would not do that again, cuz if it were me, I would be a lil too embarrassed to tell my Dr what I did and how that could've resulted in threatening my pregnancy. I hope everything is fine with u, but definitely do not do that again. The ocean is already full of germs and u don't need that getting where it doesn't belong. Please think things through next time..
Unless you are dilated it shouldn't be a problem. The baby is protected by the amniotic sac and your cervix.
