Any one told you had a chemical, but went on to have a baby?

Hi I was told that since my beta didn't double I am having a chemical pregnancy, They told me to stop my meds and I did, not sure  why? All the hpt's are getting darker and my headaches are coming closer and more frequent,  I seem to get migraines while pg. I'm making myself crazy, the RE nurse didn't want to hear anything I had to say just that its a chemical...That's it. I tried to tell her that I didn't take my prometrium as directed. I couldn't figure out when to take it once at night is what I did and then forgot for about 3 days to do the second one and since my beta failed to double and my Progesterone went from 26 to 18 she said it was a chemical and if it is what do I expect? Is AF going to arrive? Is there still a chance?

Hello, I don't know much about how to answer your medical questions but that's why you should definitely call anyone that's been treating you and get answers for your questions! I know firsthand the way patients are sometimes treated when they are asking questions deemed "annoying" or "unnecessary" by the healthcare provider, but we all must advocate for ourselves these days; so the best advice is to Be Assertive and remain tenaciously persistent until you are satisfied that you understand your medical predicament. Take charge of the process and don't worry about seeming "impolite" or a "pain in the ***" even. It's your body, your pregnancy and your life… what's more, these people are paid to treat you so you are in a very real way their boss. It is also your responsibility to educate yourself and aak questions until you are clear on what to do and how to do it. Basically, don't leave that office or end that phone conversation if you are still feeling even a little confused. I wish you strength, peace of mind, and good luck!

I was told I had a chemical pregnancy with my 1st beta which was 5 but I insisted on another beta 2 days later and my numbers had doubled. I also had very low Progesterone. Best of luck to you. I know you have been trying for a long time now and I am hoping for a positive outcome.

I probably had a chemical pregnancy when I did my IVF - HCG went only up to 22 then I started bleeding a few days later. I had never been pregnant naturally but I got 3 natural pregnancies after the IVF and finally one beautiful baby boy at 41!

I know you're going through very hard times right now but I really believe that the fact you got pregnant means your chances of getting pregnant in the future are much higher now!

Nola gives you excellent advice.  I would also request another set of betas just to be certain.  Stay strong...this is hard I know, but keep moving forward.  I think many of us here are cheering you on.

I have not had a chemical pregnancy but I have heard of betas not doubling and things turning out fine - however, your progesterone has also dropped and I would think that the RE nurse would be honest if she thought there was any chance of viability.  So while I would not give up all hope, I might prepare for the worst.  I am so, so sorry.  I have been following your journey and was so hoping that the outcome was so different - I was heartbroken to see that this may not work out.  I know that days seem dark now but I have faith that you will find a way to experience parenthood again - I will be rooting for you.

My second m/c was a chemical.  I have since gone on to have 3 healthy babies.  Good luck.
