TTC through IUI - question about Menopur?

I am getting ready to turn 37 years of age and I have been trying to conceive for the past few years - went through testing (no issues on my end nor husbands, diagnosed with unexplained infertility).  I've tried clomid, femara, gonal-f and menopur over the past year.  My most recent IUI cycle was cancelled due to a poor response and estradiol levels dropped on menopur (150 iu); however, the next protocol is recommended to be menopur again - but at a higher dose of 300 iu (150 2x per day).  I have read mixed reviews on menopur and was hoping to gain some insight here with regard to success/effectiveness (or lack thereof).   So my question is this...is menopur an effective option and what was your experience on menopur in terms of response, dose, and pregnancy outcome.

I used Menopur, Follistiom, and Lupron as my protocol. Like you, I had no issues at all (well, other than my age) and neither did my husband, really, except we had to do semen extraction since he had a congenital defect...but his swimmers were fine. I turned up pregnant the first time, but we did IVF instead of IUI.

I think different women respond to different medications.  I stopped responding to gonal-f and puregon but had a great response with Clomid + HMG Lepori, which is basically cheap Menopur ($15/vial) that I got from ivfmeds.com.  I got pregnant three times on that combination (2 m/c's, 1 baby), but that' me.

I used menopur together with Gonal-F; that is a very common protocol.  I rersponded well.  How well did you respond to Gonal-F?  Gonal-F is just FSH hormone while Menopur is 50% FSH and 50% LH.  If you responded well to Gonal-F Menopur is just a variation on the same theme.
I hope higher dosage works better for you.

p.s. You may want to post your Q on Fertility forum.  Lots of injectables experts there  :)
