Twin Pregnancy - one twin behind in growth

I am 42 and am pregnant with twins by IVF.   At 7 weeks & 4 days, my current ultrasound shows that Baby B has a CRL of 4.56 and a heartbeat of about 100 (they could not get accurate measurement on U/S).   This is not much different from the previous measurement from the U/S 5 days earlier.  Baby A has grown 3 MM and had a heartbeat increase to 136 BPM.  I didn't get much information from my doctor.   It is now a waiting game to see if I will lose Baby A.  Has anyone had a similar experience that they could share?   Does anyone have any medical information on this situation that they could share regarding the viability of the pregnancy or the chance for Baby A?

hi.  thank you for your reply.  yes, I agree, it is just a waiting game.  I was just hoping for a glimmer that other people might have similar situations that don't end up in M/C.  It has taken a year and 1/2 to get pregnant and I had a chemical pregnancy, then M/C at eights weeks (fetus not growing) and then finally got pregnant.  Yes, the eggs are mine.   I know, I am worried about the heartbeat rate also.  I am just praying.  Congratulations on your pregnancy!

That's what they usually make you do ...is come back for another ultrasound in a week.  I'm further along than you have have to go for frequent recall ultrasounds because baby is smaller than it should be.   It's just a waiting game unfortunately.   I have a singleton, not twins.   But I imagine they are are pretty much regular size in the beginning.   For what it's worth it doesn't seem like the heartbeat is where is should be and that is not the greatest sign.   All you can do is wait.   Are these twins from your eggs?

Hi.  I am sorry for the confusion! Yes, I mean I am waiting to see if "BABY B"  will survive.  I didn't get more information other than to come back in 5 days and we will check again.   Which, I understand.  But, I had hoped for more information on this type of situation and perhaps some statistics on the situation.   So, now I am just waiting and trying to stay calm.   And, then I decided to get out into the community to see if I could find more information.   Thank you for your reply!

Sorry, I haven't been in the situation myself but I know others who have.  Also, I'm confused, why is it a waiting game to see if you will lose Baby A?  Did you mean Baby B?  Or are you worried about losing Baby A as well because of Baby B's issues?
My understanding - and I admit, it is not extensive by any means - is that this early on, if you lose one, it will not harm the other nor you.  I know it must be awful to have to wrap your brain around losing even the one, but I wouldn't worry about the other.  I think the other should be fine. However, can't you push your doctor to give you more info???
I wish you all the best for both babies.
