Would you make gender based purchases if 90% reliability?

My OB did an ultrasound on me about 3 weeks ago and he said he thought I was having a girl.   He said he's 90% sure that it's a girl and he absolutely didn't see any baby boy parts.  So I got a bit excited and bought a bunch of girl things....now I'm nervous.  Do you think it was safe to make those purchases based on 90%???

Well I am having another u/s on thursday and hopefully I will know for sure and get a 100%

our neighbor was told after 3 ultrasounds she was having a girl on her second pregnancy-  she had a boy....

but,  I don't know that any doctor will tell you 100% for sure its a girl-  my doc wouldn't give me 100% with my girl, but did with my boy-  he was right in both cases....

I guess I'd keep the tags, just incase, but I don't think I did...

I also was told at not even 12w that she was 90% sure it was a boy and I totally went with that no questions asked. Now I know for sure that is a boy. Good Luck and Congrats.

Well I did buy a lot of pink!  I got so excited because this will be the only little girl (besides the puppy).   However, they didn't tell 90% girl on the L2 Ultrasound -- on that one at 18 weeks or so the baby was curled in a ball.  When I transferred care to new doctor (Dr. Sawyer) he asked me if he wanted me to take a peek to see if he could tell and that's when I got the 90%!    Needless to say I bought a bunch of girl stuff - a lot - so much that my DH commented about the pile up I created in the living room and normally he wouldn't notice an elephant in the living room.  Oh well...I've since moved it upstairs!    But he started getting me nervous and telling me stories that he heard.

I would be highly surprised if Dr. Sawyer was wrong!  He told me that Sofia was a girl at 13 weeks during the level2 and he was right :-)  Start buying pink!  ha ha..

Yvette! You are adorable. LOL Yes, I probably would have done the same thing... then worried about it after too! LOL Maybe compromise... buy more girlie stuff but keep tags on and keep receipts until after your next U/S. Grats on your girl! :)))

I had another u/s after my mid point one and asked again to double check the gender to be sure. I would say 90% is very good odds:) Did you get any pictures of the girly parts?? Maybe we could all take a look and give our opinon??

Y- you're so funny!!!  You had the level 2 u/s, right?  So probably a lot more is seen on that particular u/s than the regular ones - am I correct?  If so, 90% on a level 2 u/s sounds pretty much like you're having a girl.

If it were me, honestly, I probably would've waited to buy stuff but I think you're okay.  Back when I was pg w/youngest dd, the doctor gave me 90% odds of having a girl & well, here she is - 15 year old teenybopper and all and that was almost 16 years ago.

Hmm, hard to say unless I was in the situation I guess.  I tend to be one of those people that needs to know for absolute certain.  That being said, 90% are pretty solid odds I think, and chances are he is right.  Congrats on your little girl!!!
