My friend was going to wait with her first and she ended up almost having her daughter in her truck. She was at the hospital less than ten minutes when baby came out

With my 1st baby after my water broke I showered ate some food and packed my bag before leaving to the hospital ... and yes please sit on a towel or two because it is a lot of water... and dont even bother putting a pad on like the doctors suggest because it will soak up that pad so fast its ridiculous lol

With my first, my water broke at 39 weeks and I  gushed out a lot of fluid. My contractions started right away and were really strong to the point that I was barely able to change let alone take a shower. I'm thinking it just depends on the person.

And make sure to bring a towel with in the car to sit on because your water will still leak randomly and it's a lot of water lol

When my water broke with my first i was at work and had to wait for my manager to arrive to relieve me but i wasn't having contractions that i could feel so i went home packed, my hospital bag took a shower and even stopped at my sisters lol she lives right next door but if your not having painful contractions you most definitely have time to shower :)

If you're group b strep positive,  you need to go to the hospital ASAP to get on antibiotics. Otherwise you can take a shower & such unless you're already contracting regularly.

My Co worker just told me her story about her water breaking last week. It broke at 35 weeks, and she showered and changed and what not before heading to the hospital. Contractions don't always start right away, and from what I understand they want you there within a few hours, but I don't think it's an emergency rush there situation unless you're also having contractions close together.

I think it depends on if this is your first pregnancy. My first one I had time to shower before since it was a 16 hour labor. Everybody and every labor is different though. It really doesn't matter if you shower first though since you will get to shower after the labor and this will probably be the least of your worries when you go into labor.
