I had a natural delivery , no ripping or anything. I waited three weeks. I'd say it depends on the person.

Most doctors say six weeks or longer depending on the type of delivery and whether there was any tearing or damage. My partner and I didn't wait that long though, we first had sex at about 4 weeks pp, verrry gently and with a condom (because of hormone levels, women in their "fourth trimester" are very very fertile and there was no way I wanted to get pregnant again so soon). After my 6 week postpartum appointment where I got my Mirena placed we basically went back to normal. Except that with an infant in the house, "normal" isn't so easy anymore.

You need to wait at least 6 weeks unless the dr says longer. You cervix and vagina need time to heal and close.
