37 and first time pregnant

I feel like a nervous ball. I am 4.5 wks pregnant with my first baby. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on to learn about the upcoming changing. Do any of you have advice? My first prenatal appt is still weeks away.

Enjoy the ride, it's over before you know it. I was 41 when I got pregnant, turned 42 7 days ago, and had baby yesterday. I woke up still thinking I was pregnant, saw her sleeping there and went, "where'd that baby come from--oh yeah, me!" I second the no book advice, it'll worry you, get a midwife, mine was worth every penny.

Only advice is to stop reading all the stuff on the net. It'll just stress you out even more. Get a good pregnancy book and try to relax.

Congrats to all of you! The best thing you can do is try to relax and not stress your body. I know it's really hard not to worry. I got pregnant for the first time at 40 and my baby is now a healthy 9 month old. I worried every week and just did more harm than good cause I look back and don't think I "enjoyed" the pregnancy. I am now 41 years old and pregnant for the second time at 5 weeks. I am going to try my best not to worry unless I'm given a reason to!  Good luck!!!

Congrats!! The best advice is to stay as healthy as possible, take your pre-natal vitamins, cut out caffeine, smoking, no drinking and eat less sugar and more fruit and veggies. And....enjoy the pregnancy! :)
